Step 2:

At this point, many (most?) web professionals would mock up the theme in Photoshop. Not me, though. I’m a coder. My Photoshop-foo is very weak. Instead, I cobble together graphics as the need arises and focus on the HTML. In this case, I used an ancient (in computer years) program called Canvas to put together the curvy corner.

While I was at it, I also created images for the slanted left side and right side of the buttons.
